sherab : Myna Qui What are you teaching?

What are you teaching?

Posted on May 21st, 2008 by sherab : Myna Qui sherab
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 21, 2008:

It is sad because one of the things that i teach by example is that a smart educated person can just let life pass by.
I know that when young people see a middle aged man like me who talks with a big vocabulary and reads poetry and literature, they devalue those educational values. "You see, It didn't do him any good."
Other people see my misfortune as evidence that God punishes un-beleivers, or that it's all punishment for bad Karma.
What I try to teach is that creativity comes from having an enthusiastic heart. I live much of my life in depression and worry, but i don't let that energy overpower me and drain my life away. I paint depressing pictures and write morbid little poems. I make happy things too. and I try to teach the mechanics of writing and painting and the techniques, just by pointing out what works and how things work together. I don't really have a message to pass on to others, in my art. I'm interested if i put this rock and this flower together, what will people say. everyone finds some meaning in an arangement of words or colored shapes.
I guess its experimental art if i start out with a theory and then test it.
The best thing is when people look at something and they don't think about the genius, the unfathomable creativity of the artist, they see their own mind at work, and the artist fades into the background.
